A delightfully cozy and high-quality read…
The Federal Bureau of Magic is such a fun and cozy story! I almost never read series that include this many books. But I’ll be darned if Annabel Chase isn’t such a good writer that I read every single one!
First off, it is so much fun to read a story whose supporting characters are as interesting and full as the main ones. I love Eden’s family who she both loves and is driven crazy by. They really do mean well- or rather they mean evil. Eden’s family all get their powers from the dark side of magic. Her mother and grandmother are dark witches and her father and brother are vengeance demons.
All Eden ever wanted to be was good- which is really difficult when not only your upbringing but also your DNA says otherwise! This story is such a fun take on the supernatural. You can’t help but sympathize with our heroine who is learning that life is less black and white than she supposed. It’s great to watch Eden cautiously step into her own powers.
I also love the slowly building relationship between Chief Fox and Eden Fury. Obviously it takes a while for everything to come together- especially as the last thing her family wants is to be related to a virtuous law keeper.
This is definitely a cozy mystery series. It’s exceptionally well-written, adventurous and full of humor and snark. So far, it’s the best cozy series I’ve read. Hope you love it too!
Eden returns to the life she worked hard to leave behind…
Welcome to Chipping Cheddar, a quaint small town where supernaturals blend seamlessly with the everyday world.
Here, Eden Fury grapples with an overbearing yet loving family, a charming town complete with a handsome police chief, and a trio of unconventional pets—a rescue hellhound, a sassy black cat, and a pet python with the personality of a puppy. On the surface, her life has all the makings of a cozy supernatural tale, but there’s a twist—she is meant to be evil.
Born and raised in a family steeped in darkness, she fights against her nature, determined to carve out a normal life. Choosing duty over destiny, she joined the FBI instead of the Federal Bureau of Magic—until her powers emerged in ways that could no longer be ignored, forcing her return to Chipping Cheddar to handle magical crimes.
Now, back in her hometown, she must navigate old family dynamics, a new job, and lingering personal struggles. Add to that the undeniable pull she feels towards the very off-limits Chief Fox, and Eden has her work cut out for her.
The dormant portal that resides in Chipping Cheddar seems to be attracting more sinister supernaturals than in years past and Eden finds herself needing to rely on the powers she inherited- the evil powers she has vowed not to use.
But the community and innocent residents within are depending on her best efforts. With danger lurking and secrets unraveling, she must confront her past and the powers she loathes to uncover the truth of who she is and how to save her town.

What I love about the Federal Bureau of Magic series by Annabel Chase:
I love that this series is well-written and funny. There is a wonderful slow burn romance and so many quirky characters along the way! I completely love the ending as well!
What I didn’t love about it:
The only thing I didn’t love is that it is a really long series. That says much more about my taste and attention span than anything else!
Spice level:
This series is mild in terms of spice.
Language:
This series has mild swear words throughout. There is also some crude talk and innuendo, mostly by the mother and grandmother- which I actually find hilarious! The language is always appropriate to the scene and character.
Violence:
This series is mild in terms of violence. There is action, suspense and supernatural crime-solving. It’s a cozy mystery so the violence stays quite tame.
Length:
This series has a whopping 14 books! They are short, right about 200 pages each.
