Dragon’s Gift: The Huntress series by Linsey Hall includes the following books: Ancient Magic, Mirror Mage, Stolen Magic, Eternal Magic, Infinite Magic

Linsey Hall might be your new favorite author…

I am so glad to get to review this series for several reasons. First, the story and characters are well done. Second, it’s a fast-paced read with plenty of swoony romance and lots of intense action and peril. Third, this is only ONE series of many!!! I recently discovered Linsey Hall and she has tons of books out! This is actually one of her earlier series and as you’ve likely discovered, authors tend to only get better as they write!

So, on to the story. This series follows the adventures of Cass, who is seeking to find out more about the past she can’t remember and stay alive, as she is a Firesoul- a dangerous type of supernatural that is imprisoned or executed when discovered. She lives and works with her two adopted sisters who are in the same situation, all looking for their past and trying to avoid detection.

These girls are bad-A without seeming fake. Their top priority is keeping their found family safe and they never lose sight of that fact. I love that when Cass meets Aidan, while she is definitely attracted to the powerful shifter, she doesn’t lose her mind and start behaving like a twitterpated teen. Throughout the series the characters maintain their integrity while they grow and evolve.

The three girls each have their own series. This is the first series and of course follows Cass, the Huntress of the group. Subsequent series follow the Protector and the Seeker. This is the first of Linsey Hall’s series I’ve read and I can’t wait to read more!

Cass and Aidan- the ultimate power couple…

Cass Clereaux is good at two things: uncovering magical treasure and eliminating demons. As a FireSoul, she possesses a rare and dangerous gift—she has inherited a fragment of a dragon’s soul. This power allows her to track and steal any supernatural treasure, including the abilities of others. But there’s a deadly cost: stealing powers means taking lives, and if anyone discovers her secret, she’ll become the hunted.

To survive, Cass keeps a low profile, using her skills to locate magical artifacts while avoiding the use of her own dangerous magic. But when Aidan Merrick, the most powerful shifter in the city, hires her to retrieve an ancient scroll, she hesitates. His overwhelming power stirs memories of a past she cannot recall, and his undeniable presence threatens to unravel the walls she has carefully built. Worse, the scroll he seeks holds the key to revealing her true identity—a revelation that could mean her death.

When the Alpha Council approaches her with a lucrative job, Cass is ready to refuse, knowing that shifters have a history of hunting FireSouls. But when she learns that a young girl’s life hangs in the balance, she has no choice but to take the risk. With Aidan and her closest allies at her side, she embarks on a dangerous mission—only to uncover a far greater threat lurking beneath the surface.

Before she can stop it, Cass’s worst nightmare comes true. Captured and imprisoned in the notorious Prison for Magical Miscreants, she faces certain execution while her enemy, Victor Orriodor, advances his deadly scheme unchecked. With the world on the brink of destruction, Cass discovers an unsettling truth—she is the most powerful Magica alive. The only problem? She has no control over her newfound abilities.

To escape, she must harness her magic and unravel Victor’s sinister plan before it’s too late. With Aidan, her loyal friends, and the League of FireSouls behind her, she has one chance to break free, save the world, and uncover the truth about who she really is—before time runs out.

Dragon’s Gift: The Huntress series by Linsey Hall

What I love about Dragon’s Gift: The Huntress series by Linsey Hall:

This series is such good fun! From the first page you are in the middle of the action. I just love the personalities of the three “sisters” and their loyalty and determination. The love interest, Aiden has just enough of an edge to make him imperfect. The story has twists and turns with a satisfying ending. I also love the side characters- you really get to know and enjoy them as they round out the story!

What I didn’t love about it:

The dialogue at the very beginning felt just a little stiff. It’s really the only writing critique I can think of over a thousand plus pages.

Spice level:

This series has medium spice, the romance is a big part of the story. There is kissing and at least one bedroom scene. Anything past kissing is only alluded to, not explicit.

Language:

There are mild swear words throughout and no F-bombs.

Violence:

his story is medium in terms of violence. There is plenty of action and danger. I think the most unnerving part of the story in terms of violence is that you learn kids are involved. So, it’s not over-the-top in my opinion but neither would I classify it as mild.

Length:

These books are on the shorter side- perfect for those like me with a shorter attention span! There are five books in the series and most have around 250 pages.
