A Witch in Wolf Wood by Lyndsay Buroker

Spells, magic and a drop-dead gorgeous werewolf…A review of A Witch in Wolf Wood series by Lyndsay Buroker

A Witch in Wolf Wood series by Lindsay Buroker includes the following books: Mind Over Magic, Spell Hound, Any Witch Way, Moment of Tooth, Charmed and Dangerous

Lyndsay Buroker writes a smart fantasy romance…

Get ready for a fresh take on love, witches and what your forties are supposed to look like! Lyndsay Buroker introduces us to Morgen, a forty year old woman who finds herself starting over in the quiet town of Bellrock. Unlike most of our bad-A heroines, Morgen has no experience with a tumultuous life. Until recently, she was very happy to live in an ordinary city with an ordinary husband and career. All this changes when she discovers she’s an untrained witch.

Lyndsay Buroker has a knack for writing interesting characters. She also writes magical storylines in a logical and believable way. Our two main characters, Morgen and Amar have to wrestle with what their families and town think of a relationship between a werewolf and a witch. They have the complexities of finance and a budding romance mixed with a very real threat to their lives and community.

Without giving anything away I will say that the end of this series wraps up many of the questions and concerns I had about the supporting characters. I love the way Morgen and Amar’s relationship evolves and there’s a fun surprise there too!

This is a great read by a talented author. I hope you give it a try!

Morgen thought life in a small town would be quiet…

Morgen Keller never expected to hit rock bottom at forty. A bookish, introverted database programmer, she thought she was immune to midlife crises—until her husband left, her boss fired her, and her grandmother passed away. Hoping for a quiet reset, she heads to the small town of Bellrock, Washington, to settle her grandmother’s estate.

But peace is the last thing she finds. The old farmhouse is packed with witchy artifacts, a massive werewolf claims the land as his own, and—contrary to what her family was told—Grandma’s death was no accident. Now tangled in a deadly mystery and discovering magical powers she never knew she had, Morgen’s only hope for survival is the same werewolf who threatened to rip her throat out.

As she navigates her unexpected witch heritage, Morgen finds herself falling for Amar—the gruff, fiercely protective werewolf next door. He’s strong, loyal, and only slightly exasperated by her vegetarian lifestyle. The catch? Witches and werewolves are sworn enemies. When the local coven forces her to choose between her newfound magic and the man she’s coming to love, Morgen must decide where she truly belongs.

But her troubles don’t stop there. Between leasing a haunted building for her new business, dealing with her cousin’s shady boyfriend, and facing down a dangerous werewolf feud that could cost Amar his life, Morgen is realizing that small-town life is anything but simple. If she wants a future in Bellrock—with her magic, her business, and the werewolf who’s stolen her heart—she’ll have to fight for it.

And witches never back down from a fight.

A Witch in Wolf Wood by Lyndsay Buroker

What I love about  A Witch in Wolf Wood series by Lyndsay Buroker:

This is an interesting and well-written series about atypical characters who exist with magic in our world. I just loved it!

What I didn’t love about it:

Sometimes the plot seemed a little slow. I have a shorter attention span, so others might feel differently.

Spice level:

This series is mild to medium in terms of spice. The main characters have a physical relationship that gets slightly graphic. Most of the romance takes place in thoughts rather than scenes. I didn’t find it offensive but some might.

Language:

There are a few swear words throughout the series. They are appropriate to the scenes and characters and there are no F-bombs.

Violence:

This story has plenty of action and some fantasy violence. It was not disturbing or too graphic to me.

Length:

This series has five books. They are all on the shorter side, around 250-300 pages.
